Spotlight on Business

Cristina's Treasures
I was born in Rome, Italy and left when I was 23 years old. I went to Australia for what I thought would be 2 years to learn English and “see other places,” but I never went back to Rome to live.
I met my first husband and he brought me to Las Vegas. It was hard at first since my English was not good, but everyone was very helpful. I went to work in a boutique in Las Vegas called “Call It Macaroni.” I was there for 3 years. Then in 1973, thanks to my father-in-law Joe Antonio, I opened my own boutique on Maryland Parkway called Wrongdaddys. I moved to Boulder City with my two daughters, Maria and Monique, in 1976. By that time, my boutique in Las Vegas was very successful. I was able to open another one in Boulder City in 1979.
I closed my two Wrongdaddys stores, Las Vegas in 1980 and Boulder City in 1981. At that time, Selma Bartlett, our banker, suggested to me that I go to real estate school. I did so and successfully earned my real estate license. From 1981 through 1993, I worked for Dick Blair Realty and Boulder Dam Realty. Then in 1993 I founded the real estate firm BC Adobe Realty, which I sold to Rhonda Sledge a few years ago. Selling has been my way of life for 25 years now, and I am still a full time real estate broker salesman.
In 1996 I opened Christina’s Treasures, a small gift shop in the Boulder Dam Hotel. Several years ago I expanded to 3 floors on the corner of Wyoming and B streets. I carry a large selection of home décor, gifts and collectibles, furniture, linens, gift baskets and trays, jewelry, dinnerware and many more one-of-a-kind items. Cristina’s Treasures is open every day and we always have new arrivals. We offer a convenient layaway plan, and special orders are available. Feel free to call me at 293-3440, stop by the shop at 1400 Wyoming Street, or visit www.cristinas treasures.com.
I love to work but I also love to relax and do painting, make boxes and make cards. I love photography and travel and spend time in Australia and Italy every chance I get. My passion is travel; I guess that is what got me here in the first place! I feel very lucky to have been able to achieve all of this. It has all been possible thanks to my many friends and family. My 30 years in Boulder City have been great, and I hope to spend another 30 here.
