These questions and more will be answered at our annual Citizens Police Academy, a 10-week program held every Wednesday from 7:00PM 10:00PM beginning September 14, 2005.
The Citizens Police Academy is another one of the Boulder City Police Department’s established programs aimed specifically at educating the community regarding what the job of a Boulder City Police Officer is all about. The Academy is one component of the overall Boulder City Policing Strategy discussed previously.
The Academy introduces students to a variety of police department issues including the various laws, (traffic, criminal and civil), firearms training, crime scene investigations, driving while intoxicated and narcotics-related issues to name a few. Classes will be taught by members of the Boulder City Police Department that have received specialized training on the subject being taught.
The Citizens Academy begins September 14, 2005 with a scheduled completion of November 16, 2005. Applications are available at the police department or by calling Detective Scott Leonard at 293-9376. There is no cost to attend the Academy, however space is limited. I must warn you that the made for TV “COP” shows will never be the same upon completion of this Academy.
Until next month, stay safe.
