Santapalooza
The first weekend of December kicks off the month with a trifecta of holiday cheer, starting with the Annual Community Tree Lighting at Frank Crowe Park. After a performance by the school choir, prepare to hear the kids squeal with delight (Is that Elvis? No, it’s Jingle Cat!) as their furry friend arrives to illuminate the park’s towering tree. (12/2, Nevada Way and Cherry Street, 6pm sharp) The next day Pictures with Santa and Jingle Cat at the Bicentennial Park Gazebo offer the perfect photo opportunity for your holiday cards (12/3, Colorado St., 11am-2pm). Then, when the sun goes down, bundle up, pack a thermos of hot cocoa and find a good spot on Nevada Way to enjoy the annual Santa’s Electric Night Parade. Floats, candy and Santa! (12/3, BC Historic District, 4:30pm).
See the Lights
Each year the St. Jude’s Boulder City campus decks its halls with thousands of lights and invites the public to enjoy its holiday hospitality. On December 10th, the Night of Lights continues the tradition with family-friendly entertainment that includes hayrides, s’mores, arts and crafts, and more. Rumor has it that Santa may make an appearance if the guests have been good. (12/10, 100 St. Jude’s St., 4pm-9pm). Lights can also be seen on just about every Boulder City home, so take the time to enjoy a Self-Guided Home Light Tour with your family. Hop in the car, turn on the holiday tunes and drive (safely) through your favorite neighborhoods. Enjoy the retro flair of the Historic District, the elegant bulbwork around the fairways and a few magically-staged displays near the corrals and lake. And for the finale, be sure to swing by 5th Street just off Nevada Way. Don’t worry about the address, you won’t miss it!
