Learning Opportunities
We live in a time of amazing opportunities to learn about the mind/body connection. Science is showing that modalities including awareness of mind and body, meditation (managing the mind), yoga, and energy work can be extremely beneficial in maintaining good health as well as in assisting the return of good health in the event of illness.

It is inspiring to see that more and more medical professionals are exploring the healing arts in conjunction with traditional medicine and are recommending these modalities to patients.

Dr. Erika Crotta, N.D., Ph.D., will be giving a lecture at Dance Etc. in Boulder City on Thursday, April 19, 2007, from 9 - 11 am. This lecture is entitled The Power of the Mind in Relation to Health. Dr. Crotta is an expert in the fields of Naturopathic and Ayurvedic Medicine. Participants must pre pay ($10) and pre register, as space is limited. Please call me at 279-9523 to register.

I will be giving a lecture at The Breast Center at Sunrise (Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas) on Thursday, April 26, 2007 from 1:30 - 3:30 pm entitled Managing Stress During Difficult Times. This lecture is free of charge and there is no pre registration required. The Breast Center offers complimentary Gentle Yoga, Meditation, and Guided Imagery with Singing Bowls relaxation sessions on Monday mornings from 10 am - noon and on Wednesday evenings from 6 - 8 pm. Call Gina, The Breast Center at Sunrise manager, at 731-8664 for more information on these and other programs offered. Yoga at Dance Etc. in Boulder City is on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9 - 10:15 am, are $10 and are open to everyone on a drop in basis.

It’s helpful to know that yoga and meditation are not religious practices. Yoga is a way of re-connecting with the body and becoming aware of the mind through stretching, breathing, and movement. Meditation is a path to inner peace, no matter what your religious tradition. Meditation is a way of learning how your thinking affects your physiology, state of mind, relationships, and level of happiness, and learning practical techniques that may be integrated into every day life. The goal is peace of mind. This is attainable through awareness and practice. Please join us in these opportunities to learn and grow.
