Homebound Services

What do you do when you are a homebound person who loves to read, listen to audio-books, or watch DVDs, but your supply has run out and you cannot get out to collect more material? Well, hopefully you remember your friendly local library.

The Boulder City Library offers a free two tiered system to assist homebound individuals. The first option, Tier 1, is to have a friend, family member, or volunteer pick up material that has been selected for you based upon your requests or the choices you have made on a reader survey. Jill Donahue, the Homebound Coordinator will collect a selection of material for you and leave it at the library Circulation Desk for easy retrieval. Loan periods can be extended and renewals are available (as long as no other patron has placed a hold on an item and is waiting for it).

Tier 2 of the Homebound Service involves delivery of Boulder City Library material directly to your place of residence on a monthly schedule. Individuals who are residing in one of the various care facilities in town can also benefit from this service. Again, the material delivered is tailored to match choices indicated on a reader survey that is taken during the program acceptance process.

The program currently only provides materials owned by the Library. As the checkout period is frequently extended, the library cannot take such liberties with materials owned by other libraries. Our library does own a variety of electronic materials such as e-books, e-audio-books, a Zinio collection (e-magazine subscription) and databases. If you have internet, the library also offers in-home instruction for the use of these electronic materials as well.

The purpose of the Homebound Services is to extend library services to those residents who may not otherwise be able to visit the library. If you are a Boulder City resident who is unable to visit the library, you may qualify for this program. Contact Jill at 702-293-1281 or to initiate the process or to get more information.
