Kid-Friendly Halloween

Every holiday is special in Boulder City and Halloween is no exception. Here are some ideas on how to celebrate.

Kicking off the spirited events is the BC Parks & Recreation Department’s annual Halloween Carnival and Haunted House. Get into costume for a night of carney games and contests sponsored by the award-winning BCH Swim Team. The older kids can enjoy a homespun Haunted House full of shrieks and surprises while the little ones mingle inside the gymnasium and participate in good, old-fashioned Halloween fun. Arrive early to take advantage of the shortest lines at this popular venue. Held on Thursday, October 27th at 6pm in the Parks & Rec Gymnasium, Avenue G entrance. Admission is free; game tickets and refreshments are available for purchase. Call 293-9286 for more information.

Trunk and Treat: A safe, fun and family-friendly Halloween experience awats at The Halloween Family Fun Night at Veterans Park on Saturday, October 29th. Simply load up the family car with costumed kids and plenty of candy to give away to the other trick or treaters. Pay a $10 entry fee per vehicle, and everyone has access to an evening of entertainment that includes trunk or treating, a bouncy house, festive music and a “drive-in” movie with popcorn and hot chocolate. Prizes will be given for best costume and best decorated trunk! Lot opens at 3:30 pm; Trick or Treating from 5-7 pm; Movie at 7 pm. Call 293-2034 for more information.

Board the Haunted Train: There’s nothing more fun than a train ride. Unless, of course, the train is haunted! The Halloween spirit hits the rails on October 29th and 30th when the Nevada Southern Railway and its staff is donned in spooky décor. Families are encouraged to dress up and enjoy the 45-minute ride from the depot at 600 Yucca Street off Nevada Highway to Railroad Pass and back. Tickets are $10 for Adults (12 and older), $5 for Kids (4-11) and Free for Infants (3 and under). Children under 11 in costume ride free. Call 486-5006 for more information.
