Youth Summer Fun!

Summer is just around the corner, and the Recreation Department has a great variety of activities for children.

New this year is a Summer Art Camp at the Boulder City Art Center July 10th through 13th and 17th through 20th for ages 8 to 16 years old. This camp offers new material for each session so children can sign up for one or both of the camps without duplicating projects. Since the Art Center offers a youth Fine Art Prep class, these camps are an excellent time to assess if moving forward is a good fit for your child.

Back by popular demand is the Summer Youth Basketball Camp for grades 2nd through 8th that runs June 19th to August 3rd. The camp takes place Monday through Thursday from 1 to 3pm. This camp focuses on basketball fundamentals and skills for the first hour and then provides scrimmaging for the second hour.

The popular Cheerleading Class for children in kindergarten and up. The June class will prepare students for the 4th of July Damboree parade. Dance Classes are offered to start at age 2 years old and up. Each class is age appropriate. Classes teach Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Technique and Dance Fitness classes. Jujitsu is available for children seven years old and up on Tuesday and Thursday. After a short hiatus, Gymnastics has come back for children eighteen months and up. Sign up early, these classes fill up.

Horseback Riding Classes continue to be satisfied with instruction in Western or English riding styles. Western style is available to children ages six years old and up and English style is available to children eight years old and up.

A Science Camp is offered the second Saturday of the month from 9 to 11am. With new experiments each month, children discover just how incredible math and science can be.

The Summer Safekey Program is available to children ages kindergarten through 5th grade Monday through Friday 7am to 6pm at $18 per day. Additional fees may be required for field trips.
