However, due to the contents of the book, his family forbade him from publishing it. Finally, over 70 years later, the Napoleon Hill Foundation & World Learning Center finally published the book in June of this past year.
The book is a rather interesting read. It presents a conversation between Hill and the “Devil,” the author not clarifying really if it’s his own mind or communication with something greater/spiritual. The Devil character makes a very interesting point; however, that the devil actually exists in the minds of people. But the point of that fascinated me was what Mr. Hill “uncovered.” The main point was that the way the devil “gets” to us is when we begin to drift. This simple concept is changing my life and the lives of those who understand it.
In every aspect of our lives, we can get lost. We lose sight of whatever it is we aim to do. For example, we just started the New Year last month. But, how many people are still holding on to their resolutions? Weight loss is a great example. People have good intentions, but lose sight, drift, and are tempted to gluttony and consumption of foods that don’t do good things for the body.
The tactics that are used to force us to drift are the most interesting. The one that is perhaps most interesting to me is how the Devil uses failure to gain control of the minds of drifters. How often in our world do people completely give up after they fail? “Once someone fails 2 to 3 times, they will give up completely and I will gain control over them,” says The Devil in a strange conversation through the book.
There is much more to the book, and many other significant points. I personally am trying to show this to as many people as I can. It’s absolutely amazing and utterly absurd that we haven’t been given the information in this book before!
