At the end of the marching season, he moves the band indoors and starts preparation for concert band performances which includes the rousing Pep Band music for basketball season. Gillette also works with the chorus and their performance schedule, teaches guitar and music appreciation. He consults with Allison Bradley, Garrett Middle School music instructor, in coordinating the 8th grade band transition into high school. At the end of the school day he may be found helping individual students with private lessons they need to conquer the intricacies of their chosen instrument.
The busy young leader originated from San Jose, California, went to college at the University of Utah and received a Masters degree from Boston University. He has been at BCHS for four years. His passion for music is obviously communicated to the students as seen in their steady improvement during his tenure at the high school.
One of the highlights of this performance year takes place March 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the high school auditorium when the combination of band, chorus and theater presents Rodgers and Hammerstein’s musical version of “Cinderella.” The production should be a great chance for locals to see the terrific work being done by our young people and their enthusiastic instructor.
