Wendy was born in Yuma, Arizona, and was raised as an only child in Apple Valley, California surrounded by multitude of farm animals. From a very young age she was drawn to photography but couldn’t afford the equipment.

In 1990 she received an associate degree from Victor Valley College and went on to attend UNLV. She had hopes of obtaining a degree in Art History, but since that degree was not available at the time, she ended up getting her BA in Anthropology. Still feeling the pull of photography Wendy spent her spare time taking pictures. Wanting to learn more about it, she took some photography courses and found her avocation and vocation were about to merge. She received her certificate in commercial photography at CSN, graduating with high honors.

Presently Wendy works as a photographer doing weddings, family portraiture, business and model head shots. She has worked with all types of cameras from pin-hole cameras to large format view cameras. Presently her work is done digitally, but she still likes to dabble in film.

Wendy says she is influenced by the Victorian Age botanical etchings. She also likes the romanticism of photography work done in the 1920’s and 40’s. Her goal is to build a more interesting and visual world so people viewing her work “will see a glimpse of something more than what the world offers. The camera allows me to seek the ephemeral in the mundane,” states Wendy. Her work will be hung June 28th and will available for viewing through September.
