Mayor's Brief
by Roger Tobler
Boulder City Mayor

Community Service

Serving on City Council is a real honor. Once elected and sworn in, one realizes that to do the job correctly it takes a lot of time. Although it is not a full time position, serving as an elected official is an all-time job.

It is a Councilmember’s responsibility to know what is happening in our community and to be accessible to those in our community. We should participate in community events, and support the many events that happen here in our wonderful town.

Those serving on City Council also serve on other regional boards. Having our elected officials participate in these boards and community coalitions is important, as it allows us to build relationships, safeguard our interests and look for ways Boulder City can participate in regional decision making. Your current City Council Members serve on the following boards.

Councilman Duncan McCoy serves as Mayor Pro Tem, he also serves on: The Board of Directors and Legislative Committee for the Nevada League of Cities, and on the Southern Nevada Water Authority Board.

Councilman Cam Walker serves on: The Community Educational Advisory Board, the Clark County School District Oversight Panel, The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, The Southern Nevada Regional Planning Coalition, and the Nevada Development Authority.

Councilman Travis Chandler serves on: The Public Agency Compensation Trust, the Southern Nevada Work Force Investment Board, and as an alternate for the District Board of Health.

Council Member Linda Strickland serves on: The Southern Nevada Criminal Justice Advisory Council, and the Southern Nevada District Board of Health.

As your Mayor, I serve on: The Executive Board of the Civilian Military Council, The Regional Transportation Commission, and the Regional Flood Control District.

Serving on these boards as I stated above is important and essential. It takes a lot of time, but it is worth it. Boulder City Councilmembers build relationships with other elected officials and with those that make decisions about Clark County.
