Knowing that all City budgets have decreased over the past few years, folks in Boulder City value the Recreation Department and have really stepped up to help us uphold the high recreation standards this community so appreciates. |

All of this year’s t-ball, coach pitch, softball and baseball teams have sponsors. This year, Dr. Huxford sponsored the entire youth basketball league and has agreed to pay for the sponsorship for the entire soccer league this fall. Thank you to our sponsors and volunteers. Support is appreciated!
Upcoming programs benefiting from recent donations are the Summer Parks Program that runs Monday – Friday 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. that traditionally takes several field trips throughout the summer. Field trips require more staff to manage the activities, putting a strain on the budget. This year, The Boulder City Community Club has agreed to sponsor a field trip to the Summer Parks Program. This is a huge benefit as all the children, regardless of their family’s financial situation, will be able to enjoy the onsite field trip. And this sponsored program will not require additional staff.
Dr. Clothier’s office asked for a meeting to discuss what his office staff could do to help the Recreation Department. On their behalf, Carla Clothier offered services and funding, including help with the 31ers Educational Outreach, which is much appreciated. Funding options are being discussed.
These acts of kindness communicate to us and the community how much people of this community rely on the Recreation Department to meet their quality of life expectations. What a wonderful community Boulder City is in that so many businesses and individuals are lending additional support during these difficult times.
There is another way the community can help the Department and families in need in our community. Residents can donate funds to the Recreation Department Scholarship Fund. These funds have an amazing outcome for everyone involved. Children in need are provided with recreational services and our instructors, who receive a commission of fees collected, are paid their commissions. These funds service children in our community and help support a local instructor. Consider that this instructor buys gas and groceries in Boulder City. I think you get the point. |
