National Library Week

April 11-17, 2010, is National Library Week. During National Library Week the Boulder City Library has a great gift for you. We will offer you Amnesty on your Overdue Fines.

During the week of April 11-17, we will forgive up to $25.00 of Overdue Fines per library card. If you have overdue fines at the Library right now, this is your chance to have those fines forgiven, up to $25.00. The only catch is that you must come in to the Library in person and speak to someone at the Circulation Desk to ask us to forgive those fines.

We want you to know that it is OK to come back into the library even if you have had overdue materials in the past. This does not apply to fees for damaged, lost, or stolen items. The Fine Amnesty applies only to materials that were returned late and in good condition. We will not forgive fines automatically, nor will we forgive fines over the telephone. You must come in to the library and ask about our Fine Amnesty program.

During National Library Week, we will also replace lost or damaged library cards free of charge, waiving the usual $1 fee. If your library card is looking a little ragged or well loved, this would be a great time to get a new card without paying the replacement fee. Bring in your old, worn card if it needs to be replaced with a shiny new card. If your card has been lost, please bring in an official photo identification so that we can get your information updated in the Library's system.

So, if you have been avoiding us because of old fines, or if you have materials that are overdue right now, we want you to know that you are forgiven and you are welcome to come back and see us again. While you are here, check out all the great things the Boulder City Library has to offer you. Among other things, we have books and magazines, movies and audio books, free internet access and programs and more.

Your library card is the best “credit card” you have. Don’t leave home without it.
