Show Us Your Best
Over the years, our staff and volunteers have made many trips to different Recreation Department programs to obtain photographs for marketing purposes. Yet, we still don’t feel like we have captured the true nature of what is happening in all of our programs.

There are just too many programs and too many things happening at one time on ball fields, tennis courts, gymnastic mats, etc., to tell the story of our programs through photographs and videos as we would like. Now, we’re asking for your help to obtain photographs and videos of our programs. To help inspire you, we are initiating a photograph and video contest to capture the essence of our programs through our patron’s perspective.

We’re looking for photographs on everything from sports, classes, special events and private functions in our parks, the parks in general, you name it. If the photograph or video represents what is happening in our programs or any City facility, we want it.

The more photographs and videos submitted, the better. We will incorporate them into shows for BCTV, use them in brochures, flyers and news releases, and the Recreation Department runs a continuous monitor at the main office at 900 Arizona Street with photographs of what is happening within the Department. As you can see, we have a great need for photographs.

Using a panel of judges, the top photo and/or video submissions will receive Recreation Department gift certificates. Legal requirements in using a person’s image for public marketing will be followed. When you submit a photograph or video, you must include the name of the person/people in the photograph or video. Many of our patron’s have signed a photograph/video release form upon registering for our programs. This should be verified at our main office upon submitting your entry. If we do not have one on file, you will need to acquire a release for people in the photograph and/or video that is to be used in the contest.

We’re also looking for volunteers who are willing to help with this project. I can see a need for help to organize the submissions, create power point presentations, develop BCTV shows, etc.
