It's So GROSS!
E-w-w-wh yuck, Grossology has finally arrived in Las Vegas! Gather the kids and trek into the Lied Discovery Children’s Museum to see and experience “The (Impolite) Science of the Human Body”, a traveling exhibit for all ages. Science is for the adults, grossness for the youngsters.

Through Labor Day, find out how our bodies manufacture slime, crud, rude noises and awful odors. Mucus for example is explained by Professor Nigel Nose It All. Watch burps being generated in the burp machine, and don’t miss the Vomit Center or Skin Climbing Wall! If gooey and crusty stuff isn’t for you, there are plenty of tame exhibits.

The Lied is easy to find. Head north on Highway 95, exit at Las Vegas Boulevard, and turn right. At 833 Las Vegas Boulevard North, it is just across the street from the Las Vegas Natural History Museum. Visit www.ldcm.org
for online information or call (702) 382-5437. Admission for adults is $8, children are $7. This cool summer close to home getaway was recently voted the best museum in Las Vegas!

Ever ponder the origin of a Doggie Bag? Lawry’s the Prime Rib originated the concept in their first Southern California Restaurant!

Neat Nevada Notes: What is at 7,300 foot elevation with 32 acres of clear, cool water? A petite jewel by Lake Mead standards, Cave Lake is just 15 miles from Ely and is surrounded with pinon pines, juniper, aspen, rabbit brush, wild rose, vultures, elk, mountain lions and assorted reptiles. A breathtaking setting for boating, picnicking, fishing, camping and hiking, all for a $4 entrance fee, and $14 camping fee! Remote enough that Park Supervisor II Steve Gray can’t often be reached by phone, but try e-mail: cavelake@mwpower.net. Cave Lake has two camp grounds with level sites, fire pits, tables and parking. Access roads are not paved. A recent visit there included rain showers, the haunting scent of fresh mountain air, special event fireworks and the roar of a canon echoing through the canyon! Cave Lake State Park, so cool and refreshing, is a very special getaway for sweltering Southern Nevada Desert Rats!
