A Win/Win Situation
If you’re reading this column, you probably like to travel. And if your radar is tuned into things like this, you have undoubtedly noticed a lot of opportunities cropping up lately in the local media to satisfy your wanderlust. The Museum, Rotary Clubs, Churches, and other non-profits, are all out there making ‘offers you can’t refuse,’ on very desirable cruises and tours. And come on, admit it, we all love a bargain.

Most of these trips are arranged and coordinated by a local couple, Bill and Elaine Smith, who made their living in the travel industry before retiring to Boulder City, and the non-profits have tapped into their expertise. These organizations make money, Bill and Elaine get to travel the world (kindly acting as tour leaders for zero perks or remuneration), and you and I get to go on fun and exciting trips – at bargain group rates. You even get to write off a portion of the cost of the trip as a charitable donation. It’s a win/win situation for all concerned.

Several years ago I went on one of the first of these trips – a river cruise/land tour combination to China, organized to benefit Grace Community Church. It was a fantastic 21-day journey that cost about $3,000. Since that time Boulder-ites have traveled to Vietnam, Australia, and Hawaii, taken Caribbean and Mediterranean Cruises, and generally roamed the world on these trips. I have heard nothing but praise from participants, and the fact that many have signed up multiple times speaks for itself.

The latest adventure is a 3-week cruise to the Mediterranean May 5-22, benefiting the Boulder City Rotary Club. If it is not yet filled, you should seriously consider this cruise. It sounds like a good one. Call Bill Smith at 294-2240 for more information.

If you missed this one, don’t worry. Just watch the papers. I’m sure another fun trip will be offered soon.

Catch the wind,
taste the rain,
and touch all of your tomorrows…
