Porter Secures Nevada Transportation Funding
Third District Congressman Jon Porter announced that he has secured $4.85 million in funding for Southern Nevada projects. The funding comes through H.R. 5576, the “Transportation, Treasury, Housing and Urban Development, the Judiciary, the District of Columbia, and Independent Agencies Appropriations Act for FY07,” which passed the House by a 406 - 22 vote.

“With one of the fastest growing Congressional Districts in the country, one of my top priorities remains securing crucial funding for local transportation projects,” said Porter. “In addition, by bringing more infrastructure dollars into So. Nevada, we’ll help strengthen our booming economy by creating more jobs for hard-working Nevadans.”

The $4.85 million will begin or improve the following:

·Central City Intermodal Transportation Terminal-$350,000 for engineering, land acquisition and construction of the new terminal.

·Opportunity Village Southwest Campus-$500,000 for construction of a third Opportunity Village campus, which includes an Employment and Training Center and an Arts and Enrichment Center.

·US 93 interim improvements-$500,000 to improve traffic circulation for the time period that the CANAMEX corridor bisects Boulder City.

·State Route 160 expansion-$500,000 for final design and construction, including widening the road and adding additional lanes.

·Lake Mead Parkway improvements-$1 million for design, engineering and construction of improvements to the Parkway.

·Boulder City Bypass-$1 million to connect the Hoover Dam Bypass (US 93) to existing US 93/95/I-515.

·Cactus Avenue/I-15 Interchange-$500,000 for construction of an interchange at Cactus Avenue and Interstate 15 near Henderson.

·Southern Nevada Beltway Interchanges-$500,000 for construction of four Regional Beltway Interchanges on the Las Vegas Beltway at Airport Connector, US Route 95 North, Northern Beltway at I-15, and Summerlin Parkway.
