Library Meeting Rooms
This month, class, we'll learn about something some of you (but not all) already know about: meeting facilities at the library. If you're in a rush, here it is in a nutshell: in the old library we first had one meeting room, then none. In the new library, we have two and another room which can be used to accommodate an additional meeting.
In the old library, it became necessary to close off half of the meeting room to accommodate the children’s book collection. Many of our friends who had been meeting there for years, moved their meeting venues to the Boulder Dam Hotel or the Multipurpose Room at Central Park. Many groups who had to relocate their meetings are back now.

The library’s two meeting rooms are generally referred to as the “Large One” and the “Small One.” The “Small One” is also known as the “Board Room” because the Library Board meets there once a month. The “Large One” is rated to accommodate 105 in theater-style arrangement, although more than about 75 becomes a bit close. The “Large One” has a full-service kitchen adjacent. The “Small One” is rated at 49 occupants, 25-30 is comfortable. These rooms are separated by an accordion-pleat divider and can be opened up and used together.

The library has a full suite of audiovisual equipment available for meeting room use: opaque, overhead and slide projectors; dry board and blackboard; flip chart; tackable wall coverings if you need to hang tear sheets, posters, etc; there is even a laptop and digital projector if you must do another PowerPoint presentation.

During the past fiscal year, a total of 459 meetings were held at the library. This was an increase of over 50% from the previous year. Tuesday and Wednesday evenings are “prime time” for meetings and most weeks the meeting rooms are fully booked those evenings. There is, however, space on the schedule for additional meetings at times other than “prime time.” The meeting rooms are available to community groups, local nonprofits and governmental agencies on a first-come, first served basis and at no charge. Stop by the library or call 293-1281 to reserve space for your next meeting.
