Dottie was transplanted from Birmingham, MI via Inglewood, CA after her children were grown. She and her late husband lived there ten years before moving to Boulder City. She was always interested in art and when she got here she met some artists and started taking lessons. She studied oils with Steve Lesnick and watercolors with Cliff Segerblom. When she found James McLean she also found pastels!
Pastels are her favorite medium and she has done well with them. She enjoys trying to capture the subtle beauty of Nevada... the flowers, mountains and Lake Mead. She says, “Each day seems to have a different mood, and the challenge is to put it down on a flat surface and make it look three-dimensional.”
She enjoys hiking, learning the names of flowers, birds, trees, and discovering the history of the area.
