Boulder City High School 25th Reunion
by Karen (Trompeter) Gleich

It’s the 4th of July once again in “Clean, Green Boulder City”. Here come the reunion days and BBQ fun. Speaking for the Class of 1980, the years flew by way too fast! No matter, here we are at our 25th high school reunion. The plans our reunion group have made are here for everyone to enjoy and decide if they want to participate.

Saturday the 2nd of June will be the initial get-together; very non-formal, enjoyable, “let’s hook up and hang out”. It’s at Tony’s Pizza at 546 Nevada Way in Boulder City. About 5:30 p.m. our group will start showing up. We can take it from there, but this will be the evening's meeting place.

Sunday the 3rd of July an evening cruise has been booked aboard Lake Mead Cruises. The Lake Mead tour is 2.5 hours aboard a chartered Mississippi paddlewheel-style boat. Be sure to wear very casual clothes, since it will be warm. Our group decided on finger foods instead of a formal dinner so we can move around the boat and visit with everyone, not just the people at your table. The music will be ‘70’s, the top 25 from ’76 through ’80, played by Mike Pacini.

Monday the 4th of July, we start off the day at 7 a.m. with a Rotary pancake breakfast at Bicentennial Park on Colorado Street. At 9 a.m. the annual parade starts, and at 9:05 jets from Nellis Air Force Base will fly over the parade route. The parade ends at Central Park on 5th Street where midway games and booths will be set up and waiting. From 2 p.m. to 4 p.m there will also be games and contests at Central Park. Our reunion group will meet to start our BBQ after the parade at Veterans Memorial Park on Veterans Memorial Drive. It will be an all day deal, so come by any time. Maybe after you take the kids to the midway! From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. the City of Boulder City offers various festivities, entertainment and music via a live DJ at Veterans Memorial Park. The fireworks start at 9 p.m. so we will have front row seats for the show!

If you have any questions or if you would like to participate, please contact Karen (Trompeter) Gleich at kjgleich@cox.net. Our final planning meeting will be Monday, June 6 at Tony's Pizza. Happy Fourth!
