Boulder City - The Magazine® November/December 2004 Issue

Many people don’t think about the benefits the martial arts can give people of all ages. Practicing the martial arts will condition and strengthen your body. You will reap the benefits of a stronger heart and lungs, improved flexibility, and overall muscle conditioning. But more importantly, by practicing the martial arts, you will also condition your mind and gain a better sense of self-discipline, self-control, and self-defense. No one will argue with the idea that we live in a more self-indulgent and even dangerous society. The practice of martial arts will help to bring to light the importance of being more aware of your surroundings, and more aware of your ability to overcome obstacles.
Boulder City - The Magazine®
|No martial arts instructor of merit will tell you that the practice of their art is easy. On the contrary, the instructor should tell you that although their art is not simple to master, it will instill in you a sense of accomplishment, teamwork, and self-esteem. These benefits are accomplished by attending a school that will focus on your successes and your ability to work well on your self-discipline and respect for others.
If you’ve been looking for a way to benefit from not only body strength, but also conditioning of the mind and spirit, visit the Boulder City Recreation Center for information on the martial arts programs available right here in Boulder City.
