ATVing

Whew! Summer is almost over! But definitely what’s not over is all of the things to do in Boulder City! We’ve explored biking, hiking, rafting, kayaking and now we are taking you on an off-road adventure through the desert; ATVing! RZR, Polaris, Ranger, Sportsman; all of these fall into the category of All-Terrain Vehicles and are a popular toy here in the desert. More commonly referred to as ‘Off-Highway Vehicles,’ can be used for hauling, moving, or simply taking a fun stroll in the dirt or mud. OHVs allow you to tour scenery not accessible by regular car. There are several places to launch your adventure right here in and around Boulder City.

One of the easiest spots to head to is Boulder Hills. Located on the outskirts of Boulder City, the area has a large motocross track with a variety of dirt mounds. There are some easy trails that wind around through power line towers. This location is out just passed the Boulder Rifle and Pistol Club and can be accessed via Utah Street. This area is mostly hard pack with little dust and no shade. Considered mostly an amateur area, it runs an average of 15 miles and spans 10 square miles. Another popular spot is Nelson Hills; located roughly 15 miles outside of Boulder City. This area boasts plenty of steep and challenging hill climbs, tons of ATV trails, small canyons and a lot of beautiful desert scenery. There are no services, no shade and no water. Contrary to Boulder Hills, Nelson Hills has little hard pack, mostly rocks, few small jumps, and is great for amateur riding. (courtesy of riderplanetusa.com)

Maybe you don’t own your own OHVs but are still interested in checking out some of these rides. Head on down to Above All Las Vegas ATV Tours and Watercraft Rentals just over the hill in Henderson. They offer ATV rentals with guided tours of Eldorado Canyon, as well as other Southern Nevada trails.

Whatever it is you do, get out there and enjoy what Boulder City has to offer!
