Emergency Aid - Thank You

There are many hidden treasures police officers happen upon throughout their careers. We have all met wonderful people, experienced the honor of serving others in times of need, and of course, the opportunity to stop reckless behavior prior to bad things happening. While our job can be very rewarding, it does have its’ challenges – knowing what resources are available is one way to minimize those challenges as they arise. Emergency Aid of Boulder City is one such resource.

Chartered before I was born, Emergency Aid of Boulder City has been doing their part to make Boulder City a safer place to live, work and visit. Most people know of them for their outstanding food bank, a resource that has experienced unprecedented need throughout the last few years. As an officer, I call upon them from time to time to lend a hand to those in need of other types of assistance.

I recall years back a young couple in need of assistance – both were recovering drug addicts, their children in the state’s care, and themselves on the verge of hopelessness. I placed a call to Emergency Aid to seek assistance. A room was provided for a short period of time – just long enough for them to get their heads on straight, find a job, and begin repairing their family. Now, homeowners in Henderson, they are together again as a family – thanks to the work of Emergency Aid of Boulder City.

Recently, we responded to a call of domestic violence – not to the extent that an arrest was be made; however, serious enough that the young lady requested assistance in obtaining a safe place for the evening for her and her children – again, Emergency Aid of Boulder City came to the rescue – providing food and a safe place to stay.

On call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, Emergency Aid is there to support the community. They have proven to be an outstanding resource for the police department. It is my pleasure to say thank you for making Boulder City a safer place to live, work and visit!

Until next month, stay safe!
