Universal Class

This month I am particularly pleased to tell you about one of our newest services. The Universal Class Database offers our patrons the chance to take over five hundred different online continuing education classes.

Universal Class is an approved International Association for Continuing Education and Training authorized provider. Universal Class offers high quality online courses for patrons interested in the lifelong pursuit of knowledge for either personal or professional reasons.

When taking a Universal Class, students have the opportunity to interact with live instructors and receive continual feedback from the instructors. Sessions for each class are offered via engaging video-based lessons. Upon the completion of a Universal Class, students will earn a certificate of achievement listing total number of Continuing Education Units (CEUs) earned during the class.

Have I mentioned yet that these classes are offered at no charge to our patrons? All you need to access these classes is a Boulder City library card in good standing and access to a computer with the internet. If you don’t have internet access at home, you can use one of the library’s internet workstation or hook up to our Wi-Fi for free at the library. There is that word again…FREE.

The Universal Class Database offers a broad range of classes of interest to professionals who need CEUs, for people who want to re-enter the work-force, and classes for the hobbyist who wants to learn more about a favorite past time. Some of the general subject areas from Universal Class include: accounting, bookkeeping, anatomy, business management, business writing, caring for seniors, computer skills, customer service, interview skills, managing rental properties, Reiki, photography, painting, wedding planning, writing improvement, event planning, cooking, candle making and much more.

The Universal Class Database should be available to our patrons by the end of February, 2012. Stop by the Boulder City Library to learn more!

To find out more at the library, visit their website www.bclibrary.org or by phone at 293-1281. The library is located at 701 Adams Boulevard. The library is open 9-8:30 Monday to Thursday,  9-5 on Fridays, 11-4 Saturdays and 1-4 Sundays.
