Envision 2020: Boulder City, Nevada

The City’s strategic plan update known as “Envision 2020: Boulder City, Nevada,” has recently completed four neighborhood meetings, a random dial telephone survey of 400 residents, as well as meetings with various stakeholder groups. Many of our residents participated and provided valuable input to assist our consultant and management team in the drafting of our plan.

Community input is vital in developing our strategic plan, which will be a valuable tool for the City Council as well as for city staff. It has been many years since the City has updated this valuable document, which provides the City Council with the goals and expectations of our community. If used properly, the strategic plan will guide us during the budget process. By understanding the priorities of our community, the City Council can more effectively allocate its resources.

The Envision 2020 process will have its own dedicated webpage on the City’s website. Please visit www.bncv.org often to stay updated on the progress of the strategic planning process and see how you can be involved.

Once the strategic plan is finalized, it will be a working document. Instead of placing it on a shelf after completion, we will incorporate it into our planning sessions and goals. We will update it periodically as necessary.

In the documents download section of the Envision 2020 plan you will find the following information to assist you in familiarizing yourself with this process:  neighborhoods, consultant team background, consultant approach to plan update and consultant timeframe for completion.

As our Energy Zone is being developed, new revenues will come to our City. Your City Council wants to be responsible stewards of these revenues. These past few years have been difficult. We have seen our revenue streams decrease while many of our expenses increase. We are fortunate to have lease revenue. We have not had to reduce our workforce or our services. The Council has implemented a financial plan to pay our debt off early and rebuild our rainy day funds. The strategic plan is now another step that will help us to be responsible leaders.
