The terrace of the Boulder Dam Hotel was the scene of a wedding on May 25, 1939. Amelia Earhardt’s widower, George Palmer Putnam, married Jean-Marie Cosighy James (a Beverly Hills divorcee). Putnam was an American publisher, author, and explorer. He was a friend of Glover Ruckstell, the millionaire head of Grand Canyon - Boulder Dam Tours with interest in the Hotel. Earhardt disappeared in 1937 on a flight around the world. Earhardt was declared dead on January 5, 1939. |
