Cindy Bandy "Go To Girl"
Hooray for Cindy Bandy, citizen extrodinaire and “go-to-girl” for Boulder City! She is a part of the fabric of our town. Moving here over 30 years ago, Cindy became a realtor, extolling the town’s assets and finding homes for newcomers to the area.

She has been an active participant in numerous civic organizations and charitable endeavors, as well as local politics. Cindy presently views the Boulder Dam Hotel as her priority project. “It is a piece of Boulder City history that must be preserved,” Cindy states.

When this very busy lady goes home to relax she becomes Cindy Bandy, the artist. The Boulder City Art Guild owes its existance to this energetic lady. In 1973 Cindy, Pearl Garrett and Jean Osborn were getting together for painting sessions and founded what became the Sr. Art League. This loose organization then blossomed into the incorporated Boulder City Art Guild in 1976. The present day Guild has a membership of over 100 and a cooperative gallery with 40 participating artists. It supports six, $1,000 per year scholarships and sponsors two major art shows each year.

Encaustic paints are the medium of choice for Cindy, unique as the person herself. This process is an alternative to oils and acrylics. It features a pigment, beeswax and a damar resin mixture. It is a spontaneous medium that can be layered, sculpted, textured and even combined with collage materials. It does not require a drying time so Cindy’s work is very spontaneous and exciting in pastel landscapes of the Southwest.

On October 16 from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. the Boulder City Art Guild will honor Cindy with a reception as the Featured Artist for October through December. Cindy will be present at the Gallery in the Boulder Dam Hotel on October 16 to greet friends and neighbors and talk about her work.
