Andrew Huxford, “Andy”, lived in Oregon as a child and graduated high school in Salem. It is a midsize city that is encompassed by agriculture. Andy would pick strawberries as a kid in the fields for money. He later moved sprinkler pipe to irrigate the many crops. Andy left Oregon and went to Idaho and Utah for college. He longed for the farm. He broke horses, hauled hay and drove tractors in Idaho. That’s what Andy wanted to do his whole life. After graduating from Southern Utah University, he became a teacher and worked for the Clark County School District for several years. He and his wife moved to Boulder City in 1991. Every summer he went back to the farm that he loved and would work to supplement his income. Eventually he knew that owning a farm might be out of reach. He would only be a hired hand. Then an idea came to him. Why couldn’t he buy his own farm?

The creation of a dental practice can start from anything. Andy would find a job that could support his dream. He looked around and nothing seemed interesting until one day, he met a dentist. They talked of what a dentist does… they help people, work with their hands and they are their own boss. Andy was hooked! With his wife and three children, he started all over again. He went to the University of Colorado Dental School. By the time Andy graduated, he and Rachelle had five children. Previously they had lived in Boulder City as teachers and loved it. So, they decided to settle down and raise their family here.

Dr. Andrew J. Huxford built Boulder Dental Group from the ground up. He started without any patients in 2005 and now has a thriving practice. He feels very fortunate to live, work and play in Boulder City. He still goes back to the farm every summer for vacation. Andy loves to bike and wakeboard. He coaches soccer for the recreation league and basketball for the high school. His life in Boulder City is wonderful and the residents have made that happen. We would like to congratulate Dr. Huxford for a successful dental practice with a fresh and innovative approach. May you someday buy a farm, but never leave Boulder City!
