Materials for the Book Sale are stored in the basement of the Library. Not only do we use the basement for storage, but we rent storage space to other organizations. We may not have quite as much space available to store materials for the Book Sale as you might think.
Because storage space is at a premium, we have had to limit the types of materials we accept for donations. Because we do not add them to the collection and they do not sell at the Book Sale, we do not accept the following donated materials: Magazines, Text books, Readers Digest Condensed Books, Reel-to-Reel Tapes, 8-Track Tapes, Records (LPs or 45s), 16mm or 8mm film, Beta videocassettes, Encyclopedia Sets or Computer Software (due to licensing issues). We also cannot use old books in poor condition with loose covers, missing pages, or those that smell like someone’s basement.
We are happy to continue to accept the following donated materials: Books that are in good condition, CDs (music or audio books), DVDs, Audio Cassettes, VHS videocassettes, and Video games.
We also maintain our Paperback Exchange collection totally on the basis of donations.
When you drop off your donations at the Library, it is best for us if you bring the books in boxes during regular Library hours. Please don’t leave them by the book drop, but bring them to the Staff Door at the South-East Corner of the building.
Thank you for thinking of the Boulder City Library.
