Boulder City Sunrise Rotary Wurstfest
by Goldie Begley
On Saturday, September 26, Bicentennial Park at Nevada Way and Colorado Street is the place to be. The Boulder City Sunrise Rotary WurstFest evokes Boulder City’s community spirit with a full day of family fun.
Record crowds are expected to enjoy classic cars, silent and live auctions, lots of entertainment and great, great food.
All 50 plus Rotarians, families and friends will host the annual event and would ask that you join in.
First, by donating new or unused items to the auctions. Furniture, jewelry, artwork, even that vehicle you have not been able to sell, can be tax deductible. Second, by volunteering your time at the event, and third, by attending and bidding on auction items.
The Hustlers Classic Car show starts at 10 am. The Rotary Bratgrillers will be serving up brats, hot dogs and thirst quenching drinks from 11 am to 11 pm. The Dummkopfs crank up the accordions for their oompah musical comedy routines from 11 am till 3 pm.
At the silent auction from 1 to 3 pm, you can bid on gifts donated from local merchants, dinner tickets, art, jewelry, and lots of other miscellaneous great stuff at a price you can afford.
The live auction from 4 to 6 pm will have vacation, hotel and dinner packages, airfare, a mini organ, artwork, autographed sports memorabilia, another chance for you and your friends to experience making wine at Grape Expectations, possibly vehicles, plus you can call for more information on the rebuilt 1989 Harley Davidson to be auctioned, it’s a great find.
Quite often Rotary auctioneers Rich Baughman and Doug Scheppmann are in costume. Bring your own chair to be assured of seating.
The beer booth will have a new look this year with shaded seating provided and an added brew from the local Brew Pub. Tommy Rocker and the Conched Out Band will entertain from 7 to 11 pm in the street.
All proceeds help fund the giving back to the community efforts Sunrise Rotary is proud of, including the all night graduation party.
