Holiday Hours
In case you didn’t know, during the months of November and December this year, the Library will be closed to the public for 3 hours each day, Monday through Friday. The library will open to the public at Noon on those days, with our closing times and our weekend hours remaining the same.

The library staff and several volunteers are working on an RFID and Inventory project that needs to be completed by the end of the calendar year. Rather than close entirely for several weeks, we decided to close for a few hours each day to work on this project. We chose to close during the morning because we generally have less business in the mornings.

We have undertaken this project for two reasons:

First, we are tagging all of our circulating materials with Radio-Frequency tags so they can be checked-in and checked-out at the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District Libraries. We have a contractual agreement with LV-CCLD to loan materials to their libraries for the LV-CCLD patrons. Likewise, the LV-CCLD libraries loan things to us for our patrons to use. In order to maintain that agreement with LV-CCLD, we are required to tag our materials.

Second, this project is providing us with an updated inventory of our collection. I’m sure most of you appreciate the importance of a current inventory for any business.

In order to finish this project on time, we are looking for volunteers who are willing to give us a few hours of their time. Volunteers will be asked to work in teams of 2-3 with a staff supervisor. The duties of this project are fairly physical. Volunteers must be able to stand/walk for up to 2 hours. Volunteers must be able to bend, kneel, lift and reach. Volunteers must be able to retrieve books from top, middle and bottom shelves. Basic computer skills will be very helpful.

Those interested in volunteering for his project should contact Project Coordinator Deanna Duffy at 293-1281 or e-mail: ref@bclibrary.org.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused by our closure. Thank you for your patience. You can contact us at (702) 293-1281 or www.bclibrary.org.

Happy Holidays!
