|A Kid's View
by Giovanni Venezia
I am an interesting eater. I am often called picky, yet try a lot of food most people won’t even touch, like veggies, sushi, and a family Hungarian dish called Chicken Paprikash. So I decided to write about my opinion about, you guessed it, food! I thought long and hard about the good, bad, ethnic foods and dishes, and home cooking that come to mind most. So let’s start with the “bad” food (food I dislike).
Boulder City Magazine®
|There are several foods I dislike. But, there is one that just jumps to mind: cooked vegetables.
One thing that is really odd is, unlike most kids, I love most all vegetables. But, I dread the cooked, non-crisp texture of cooked vegetables. I also dislike most sandwiches, soups, and Spanish & Mexican cooking.
But, there are many foods I like, probably more food than I don’t like. I love Italian, raw vegetables, chicken, beef, fish, pork, and many other foods. If you have not figured it out by now, I am Italian (hence my full name, Giovanni Juliano Venezia). I love pasta and have become more open to more Italian foods, like ravioli and some more meat dishes.
Barbecue has a place in my stomach, my favorite being pork ribs with b-b-q sauce. But, even though I like so many other foods, my favorite is Buffalo chicken wings. My father and grandmother are from Buffalo, NY, and they know good buffalo wings, and I have never tasted any as good as my father’s wings.
I am always around different ethnic foods. As I mentioned before, I am not a big fan of Hispanic food. And, I like Italian. I like to try tacos, though!
Finally, the last thing I want to mention is my love for good “home cooking”. Since I was three years old, I have always had good memories of my grandmother’s cooking. But, my father in the last year and a half has a close second place. My father makes some of the best food and dessert I’ve ever had.
Food has so many opinions on SO many different things. What is you’re favorite food? Tell me at BCMakidsview@Gmail.com. Go out or make and try a new dish tonight!
