Boulder City Artist Profile - Charles Siefert, Jr.

Chuck is a Native Nevadan which places him in a category with few peers of his age. Most kids are natives but not many as “old” as Chuck.

Chuck, an accomplished landscape and nature photographer, is at home no matter where his camera takes him. His eye for the inspiring nature spots in the United States brings these images to the public. He states, “It’s something about being in the most breath-taking sights in the world and trying to capture their essence on film. I’ve always been a nature buff and have enjoyed spending time outdoors. It was a natural progression after I learned photography to infuse the two interests.”

Over time he developed his technique of using natural light to enhance the colors in his subject before exposing the image to film. This is his “secret” today... natural light! It wouldn’t be unusual to see Chuck on site for a picture early in the morning and shooting the same scene intermittently throughout the day until it’s too dark for any more. Then he selects the best of all the shots, sometimes just one, to print and exhibit. He prints his own work and thus maintains complete control from shooting, developing, printing, framing and exhibiting to the final sale.

Our nation’s state and national parks are his favorite places to visit. Chuck says, “I encourage people to go see it for themselves and if not, hopefully I can bring these places to them through the camera lens.” His company, Nature’s Light Photography, proudly donates 10% of their limited edition sales to our nation’s parks and forest services.

You can see Chuck’s work seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday - Saturday, and noon - 5 p.m. on Sundays at the Boulder City Art Guild Gallery in the Boulder Dam Hotel, 1305 Arizona Street in Boulder City.
