Clark County Fair and Rodeo
Only about 90 minutes from Boulder City’s “Main Street USA” atmosphere is an annual April event offering a “Rural America” experience, Nevada style. From April 6 through April 9, the Clark County Fair brings back the sights, sounds, and distinct aroma of the County Fair you might have enjoyed as a youngster.

Round up the kids, young and old, and head for Logandale, either by going along Lake Mead via Lakeshore Scenic Drive, Hwy 166, Northshore Scenic Drive, Hwy 167 and Hwy 169 through Overton to leisurely enjoy our sparkling high desert lake and beautiful craggy mountains, or whiz along I-15 to Hwy 169 where you hang a right for the Fairgrounds (Logandale).

Admission is nominal for a day packed with booths showcasing Livestock to Horticulture, and lots in between. Perhaps there’s a booth where the vendor decks you out for a sepia tone photo in a Wild West background or satisfy your secret craving for cotton candy and funnel cake, or both! Check out the Food Pavilion and sample their Barbeque. Wander through the Small Animal Pavilion for a gander at an amazing variety of Chickens and Rabbits.

Could you manage a 165-pound lamb that did not want to be shown? In the Jr. Livestock Pavilion, it really is fun to watch dedicated young folks vie for top honors showing lambs, cows, horses, goats and even pigs! Each category winner goes to the finals where their skills are tested taking charge of and showing all five animals.

Entertainment can be found at the Plaza, Midway and BBQ stages, and Wrangler Winter Pro-Rodeo kicks off in the evening. Stroll along the mid-way to find your favorite Carnival ride, and oh yes, don’t miss the Swifty Swine Pig Racing to round out your Clark County Fair and Rodeo Experience! For details, visit ccfair.com or call 888-876-FAIR.

As a teenager, I loved the Tulare County Fair, and cherish those memories. In 25 words or less share your favorite County Fair memory: daytripn@bouldercitymagazine.com or Day Trip’n, P. O. Box 62465, Boulder City, NV 89005. Be sure to include your mailing address; there’s a prize!
