RC in BC
For local RC model enthusiasts, there are several locations in Boulder City that offer quality facilities for using radio controlled aircraft, cars, trucks and boats.

The radio controlled aircraft flying field is located just off the end of Utah street near the Boulder City Landfill. A right turn onto the power line road just before you reach the Landfill will lead you to the field. The flying field is the home of the Eldorado Valley Flyers (www.evflyers.org), who made the flying field a reality. It is located in a large, clear, fenced and gated area with a gravel drive approach. The flying field has a sizeable blacktop runway, shaded control areas and several maintenance tables. It has plenty of restrooms and a convenient covered storage area. The best time to watch RC model aircraft flying at the field is on Sunday mornings. RC model enthusiasts, don’t forget the 28th Annual 2004 QSAA/IMAA International Fly-In at Eldorado Dry Lake in October. It’s the largest ¼ scale event in the world.

The Boulder City Speedway is located toward the end of Buchanan Boulevard, just past the Veterans’ Cemetery. Turn onto the paved road leading to the treatment plant. The Speedway has a banked, oval racetrack that is lighted for nighttime use. It has an enclosed judges’ stand and a quality PA system. The Speedway has a covered control tower and a pit area with several maintenance tables. It has bleachers that can accommodate quite a few spectators, and a covered storage area for race participants. The local racing club can be contacted at www.qsara.org. The next race event scheduled for the Boulder City Speedway will be held on August 13-14.

The remote control boat pond is located at Veterans’ Memorial Park just off Buchanan Boulevard. Turn onto Commons Way and follow the road to the pond. The boat pond is located in a beautiful park setting surrounded by native stone, wildlife and plants. Its calm waters and protective environment make it perfect for either sail or powered RC boats. The boat pond has a sidewalk surrounding it for easy access from all sides. There is plenty of parking close by.

Whether you are an avid RC model sportsperson or just thinking of trying it out, take advantage of these great facilities right here in Boulder City.
