Park-'ing'

Ok, so by the title of this article you are probably asking yourself “I know there’s parking in Boulder City!” Yes, there is plenty of parking! Let’s think about the other kinds of park‘ing’ where you walk through shaded, grassy spaces listening to the wind gently cross through the trees. We have several parks in town; all of which have their charm and character.

The first and most popular is Veterans Memorial Park located at 1650 Buchanan Boulevard. The park consists of 25 acres and includes four lighted multi-use ball fields. Two of those ballfields are used in October during the Chamber’s Trunk or Treat! It also consists of two beach volleyball courts, restrooms, a three-acre fishing pond, model boat pond, soccer fields, skateboard and bike park, splash park, gazebos, horseshoe pits, and acres of open green space. Your furry four legged friends will love romping around the dog park sponsored by See Spot Run!

Listed as one of the top five Best Parks and Nature Attractions in Nevada, Hemenway Park, located at 401 Ville Drive on your way to the Dam, is another popular park since it is home to the famous desert bighorn sheep! The ten acre park includes a playground, gazebos, basketball courts, horseshoe pits, and lighted tennis courts. There are also two lighted softball fields! You will also enjoy some spectacular views of Lake Mead and the surrounding mountain range!

Bicentennial Park is located in the heart of the Historic District. Home to many annual festivals, the park offers an elevated gazebo. There is also a grill, picnic tables and playground making it perfect for outdoor events or parties. Wilbur Square is perhaps the oldest of the parks also located in the Historic District. Established in the 1930’s, the park was established as a recreation spot for the workers and their families. Wilbur Square has the most beautiful trees that provide shade canopies; perfect for a picnic or a little rest!

Whatever park you visit, get out there! There is so much to do in our backyard!
